Soul Birds

Just ordered these limited edition 'Soul Birds' from Finnish illustrator Sanna Annukka. In Karelia there was an ancient belief in the Sielulintu or Soul bird. The Sielulintu was thought to deliver the soul to newborn babies and also to transport the soul to the afterlife at the moment of death.
It was believed the Sielulintu protected a persons soul at it's most vulnerable; when dreaming, and it was tradition to keep a carved wooden bird by the bedside to keep the soul safe during sleep.

Now that DiscoverSayville.com v2 has launched, Frank & I have been tinkering with the idea of an iPhone application that aggregates content from the site while utilizing the built in features of the phone itself. It's only been a week or so and we've already made progress. Stay tuned for more, in the meantime here's a small preview of what's to come!
Snow Day is a Code Day

What does more than a foot of snow allow you to do for the day? Code! Today I was able to make progress with the blog page (pagination, tagging, filtering) and explore the iPhone SDK some more. In my opinion, working on a development application is a great way to dive into the SDK and learn the behind-the-scenes stuff that makes an app work.
I know Rob was able to start the design of the detail project page, so I'll be coding the PHP for that in the near future.

If there's one thing I love more than Helvetica, it definitely has to be cookies. Put these two together and I'm in heaven! Thanks to
Beverly Hsu, this dream has been made possible.
