Soccer Outing in NJ
May 24, 2010 / 2:04PM / POSTED BY ROB

The crew traveled to the distant land of New Jersey on Sunday to see the New York Red Bulls take on Italian superstars Juventus in the brand new soccer specific stadium. And what a stadium it is. The surrounding area may have been daunting to some, but the industrial setting really was interesting to see around this modern day architecture.
It was a draw until the second half took play. New York gained momentum and scored three goals in a row. Juventus eventually put one on the scoreboard but to Frank's distaste, far too late into the match. New York won 3-1 and sent the Italian fans packing.
Back From Paris

After a week of art, museums, winding streets of cafés and croque monsieurs I'm back from Paris, France—just the break and inspiration needed to get back into the groove. Among the inspiration—two books acquired from Artazart, a design book store along the St. Martin Canal. Both books are by French illustrator Anne Bertier:
Dessine-Moi Une Lettre &
Construis-Moi Line Lettre on typography (for children). Be sure to check these beauts out!
Otherwise, stay tuned for more

Postcard by Concierge.com Wins
April 28, 2010 / 3:24PM / POSTED BY ROB
Postcard by Concierge.com won the MIN 2010 Best of the Web: Mobile Application Award. Here's what they had to say:
MIN 2010 Best of the Web
A mobile app is not a Web site. That is the first lesson most publishers forget when designing for the new generation of smartphones. People want utility and service from their mobile handset, not the same old content. Concierge found a way to extend its long-standing online travel information and inspiration brand to the iPhone without just piping in the Web site.
The Postcard app lets users integrate their own travel photos with the site's brand. The app uses the on-board camera, its GPS system and connectivity to give users the power to put their travel photos into attractive frames and share with friends and the Concierge site. The final product can tie into a Google map that illustrates for the user where they are (or were) and creates a map catalog of travel images.
Few mobile apps integrate back with the online brand as deftly as Postcard. The users' creations are gathered in the Concierge.com gallery, where the adventures and design wit of users is put on display. Whether it is the mysterious "sock foot traveler" sending images and captions from Germany or families sending "bonjours" from the foot of the Eiffel Tower, the iPhone app has become an occasion for Concierge's users to take the brand with them and to give back to a community of travelers.
With over 1,000 downloads a day, the Postcard app is demonstrating how magazine brands become truly portable when they become fun and meaningful in people's everyday lives. Mobile raises the bar on magazines to really matter in people's lives, and Concierge's Postcard meets the new challenge.

And if you're wondering, yes it's iPad compatible ;D
